POP MART × Keith Haring Collaboration
When Hong Kong’s POP MART teamed up with the Keith Haring estate via Artestar in 2021, they didn’t just release another figurine, they created a cultural bridge between Haring’s pioneering 1980s pop art and the current global designer toy phenomenon.
At DesignerCon 2021 in Anaheim, POP MART unveiled the MEGA Collection 1000% Space Molly × Keith Haring, a 70 cm towering vinyl astronaut drenched in Haring’s vibrant symbols: barking dogs, radiant babies, bold lines and blocks of color. It arrived later in Hong Kong and POP MART’s online store, selling out almost instantly as Haring’s joyful energy filled the space-age suit.
Back in December 2021, POP MART followed up with the Yoki × Keith Haring release: a compact, seated “bat” icon wrapped in monochrome Haring outlines and a single bold heart eye, bringing Haring’s stylistic language to Yoyo Yeung’s beloved IP.
Signing on with the Haring estate allowed POP MART, and Kenny Wong, Molly’s creator to remix Haring’s motifs across familiar figures, making his work tangible and collectible beyond gallery walls .
This collaboration is more than just toys: it signals a shift. As Jing Daily observed, brands are treating artists’ visual IP as passport to culture-driven products, from streetwear to skate decks. POP MART’s global expansion with nearly 200 stores and a rising Western presence, shows they’re using art partnerships to attract a broader, international audience .
The result? Collectible toys that function as mini pop-art galleries. They speak to nostalgia, visual history, and a hunger for meaningful design, all bottled into vinyl form. This merger of Haring’s iconic style and POP MART’s mass collectible power presents something fresh and relevant: high art you can touch.
Looking to bridge art and culture in the toy world, POP MART × Keith Haring achieved just that, offering fans a piece of art history, reimagined through playful collectibles.
