Barbie x Anna Sui: When a Doll Becomes a Cultural Statement

Barbie’s newest release isn’t just stylish, it’s meaningful. In May 2025, Mattel introduced a limited-edition Barbie in collaboration with legendary fashion designer Anna Sui, blending fashion, heritage, and empowerment in one bold release.

This isn’t your average collectible. Anna Sui personally oversaw every detail, from the skin tone to the deep green manicure. The doll wears a reissue of her iconic 2007 runway look, complete with platform shoes and her signature fragrance bottle, shrunken down to doll size.

More than a fashion moment, this Barbie stands for something. Part of the proceeds go to APEX for Youth, a nonprofit supporting underserved Asian and immigrant youth in NYC - a nod to Sui’s own background and values.
