From Graffiti to Art Toys

My name is Vanya Cros. This story begins in the early 2000s when I fell in love with graffiti, marking the start of my creative journey. I mostly painted lettering — like all writers, I used to write my name. Occasionally, cartoon characters, comic book heroes, or characters from novels would join the letters, but these were more one-off events in the context of productions with other artists.A user picture

Everything changed in 2012 at a festival where a character, not lettering, was needed. I drew a bat’s head — something between the gremlin from the eponymous movie and Bartok from the animated film Anastasia. It was simple to depict, and it had a playful, naïve, yet daring personality.

This is how "Bat Boy" was born. Over time, he became one of my main characters and gained countless lives in the form of stickers, pins, posters, wall art, and other reproductions. He became more recognizable than his creator!

In 2017, technology took a step toward me — I got a 3D printer, which became a turning point for me as a designer of figurines. Bat Boy quickly gained not only a physical body but also friends in the form of other characters.
