Haq Al Laila 2
What is Haq Al Laila ("For this Night")? It is a custom that is observed in Gulf countries. Children walk door-to-door singing specific songs linked to hundreds of years of tradition asking for 'Haq al Laila' such as candy, nuts or money. Haq Al Laila is celebrated in the United Arab Emirates on the 15th of Shaaban, the Islamic month preceding Ramadan. In Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and some Saudi cities, the same custom is celebrated on the 15th day of Ramadan, but it is known as gerga'aan. It is also recognized on the same day in Oman, but is known as Qarnqashouh.
On this holiday, all boys and girls are dressed in traditional clothing and carry colorful woven bags.
