About toy
In Babylonian mythology, Girtablili was known as the fearsome half-man, half-scorpion hybrid. This was one of the forms taken by the powerful goddess Tiamat during the creation of the epic city of Babylon. According to legend, the scorpion men were created by Tiamat to wage war against the younger gods for the murder of her mate Apsu.
In the Epic of Gilgamesh, these formidable creatures stand guard outside the gates of the revered Sun God Shamash at the formidable mountains of Mashu. These gates lead to Kurnugi, the dark underworld. They open the doors for Shamash as he departs each day, and close them behind him as he returns to the underworld at night. They also caution travellers about the perilous dangers beyond their post.
