Curling is a winter sport that dates back to 1511 and originated in Scotland. Early games were played on ice ponds and lochs. Curling made its Olympic début long before it was recognized as a legitimate sport. Since 1998, it has been recognized as an official sport. The first games, however, were held in France in 1924. Curling has thus been clearly entrenched in the Winter Olympics for the past 74 years. Curling is as popular as ice hockey in Canada, so don't believe this strange sport is unpopular.
