They are fast and furious! Don't get in their way! Especially if it's an Olympic biathlon track! The sport has its origins in Scandinavian skiing traditions, where the Norse god Ull was revered as both a ski god and a hunting god by the early settlers. Skadi, Ull's goddess wife, was also known as a hunter-skier. The region's militaries were the first to master the combined talents of skiing and rifle marksmanship. Individual, sprint, pursuit, relay, and mass start disciplines make up the biathlon at the Winter Olympics, and they all differ differently in terms of race lengths, number of targets and shooting rounds, and other details.
