Bangladesh is known as "the playground of seasons" because it has six rather than four seasons: sharat (autumn), grismo (summer), bashonto (spring), sheet (winter), barsha (rainy), and hemanto (cool). In fact, every season in Bangladesh is marked by a different festivities, set of crops, fruits and customs. For instance, Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year, is celebrated in mid-April. Moreover, it was designated as a cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2016.
