Mighty Jaxx × SpongeBob: XXRAY “Plus” Series

Next, we dive deep, literally. Mighty Jaxx, famed for its sculptural designer toys, introduced the XXRAY Plus series in partnership with anatomist toy‑sculptor Jason Freeny in 2023, unveiling a dissected version of SpongeBob SquarePants that reveals the interior organs of Bikini Bottom’s favorite sponge .

At 8.5″ tall, the figure captures SpongeBob with net in hand (ready for jelly‑fishing), perched atop Gary the snail. Its split-view front reveals both the recognizable exterior and a medical‑style “X‑ray” interior - an aesthetic signature of Freeny’s work .

Announced for $169 USD and scheduled to ship in July 2023, XXRAY Plus SpongeBob is cast in premium PVC/ABS vinyl and features a base that evokes ocean waves . It’s a limited edition release, available through Mighty Jaxx boutiques and select retailers .

This release taps into Mighty Jaxx’s mission to blend pop culture nostalgia with art‑toy experimentation. Fans of adult‑oriented collectibles and SpongeBob alike praised the figure’s clever combination of whimsy and anatomical detail - earning feature coverage from toy‑culture outlets like Vinyl Pulse.
